Blood Donor (Continuation)

Vignudha sat next to Ajay who took the driving seat whereas Jai sat in the back.

“Now, what are you up to?” Ajay enquired them after letting his driver to leave.
“I want every seat in this car to be occupied. I think you know what I mean.”

“Do you know Vignudha, Sahithi always tells me the same thing when we go for a drive.”

“Sahithi?”.

“Yeah, Sahithi, she wants the car to be packed with all of us.”

Jai and Vignudha understood nothing.

“You are saying that you both are in contact?” asked jai.

“Always, oh ...” He saw the expressions on their faces and said “We are going to get married. I know it’s a bit shocking for you. But it’s true. Do you remember, when she came to our college after that incident in the forest, we exchanged our numbers and started spending hours of time speaking on phone. We became close to each other but only as friends. You all left when ‘He’ said what we need to do. I tried to speak to ‘him’, but of no use, because ‘His’ heart had already been broken. ‘He’ disappeared just like that. I felt alone. I started asking several questions to myself. But no answer satisfied me. I had started taking alcohol. My day starts and ends with alcohol. You know my parents never cared for me. With all your absence, there is no one to care about me except her. As soon as she knew that I became an alcoholic, she came to me and filled your absence. She told me what I need to do. She stood by me in every moment. We both started working to fulfil ‘His’ dream, managing my family business and her M.B.B.S practice simultaneously. I got surprised seeing how she is managing all the things. Within a very less time, she became a youth icon. One day she came to me with marriage proposal. I know that I am no match to her and said the same to her. We never said to each other that how much we loved each other. She got depressed with my reply. Somehow she knew that I had the other reason to deny her. She asked me the same looking into my eyes. I can’t lie to her, so I said that I will get married only in front of my friends. She already knew what I am, so she accepted and still waiting. I know that one day we all get together. I never lost hope. See, finally my wait is over.”

Both nodded feeling guilty for the Ajay’s words.

In a low tone of voice, jai said to him “We just met Sahithi but she told nothing. She just gave her card and left.”

“Thank goodness. You already met Sahithi! She will be so happy. I wanted to text her about you. So there is no need now. And yes, I already told you, she is like a workaholic. She is busy all the time.” He smiled.

Vignudha also smiled in acceptance thinking how fool she was once. She thought that she is the one who is going to begin ‘His’ journey without knowing what actually happening. Jai too, thinking the same.

A lot had happened within these two years, but Jai and Vignudha know nothing. They don’t know where ‘He’ is. They don’t know where their friends are. They don’t know that C.S left home and even got married to Chandana. They don’t know that how their friend Ajay leading his life in their absence. They don’t know what ‘He’ is doing leaving his dream behind. They don’t know that Sahithi already started playing a lead role in their lives. And lot more things which are unexpected and unbelievable.

Prank on Saveena

“If we are heading for Saveena, I think she will be now in office.”

“No Ajay. It’s C.S”, Vignudha said involuntarily because as per her plan, it’s C.S next.

At the same time, Jai, who is conscious, asked “How do you know where she is?”

“I know where and what all of you are doing. Sahithi, who knew me very well, once gave me an idea. She told me to follow what you guys are doing without any trace to you. It seemed great to me. So I did the same. I know everything what you guys did in these two years ...” his smile faded “... except about ‘Him’.”

“And Vignudha ...” he continued to her response “... We can’t reach C.S now. He went to the other state for business meeting. I presume that he will return by 8 ‘O’ clock. Until then, let’s get in touch with others. What do you say?”

There is nothing to say. So, both of them just nodded.

Mean while they spoke about lot of things. It’s been two years that these close friends spoke to each other. They got some chance now.

Finally they reached to Saveena’s office. They saw everyone is leaving from office. For a second, Vignudha and Jai got tensed but soon realized that they have no need to worry about anything when Ajay is with them.

As they expected, He sat back, relaxed and said “Thank goodness. We are on time.”

“What?”

“There she is .” He gestured at Saveena, who is coming out of the office.

He continued “Only one thing which is mystery to me is that she is miserable all the time. I don’t know why. But I can surely say that she is very badly missing someone. Even now, you can see her distressed face.”

When he finished, Vignudha gave a heartbreaking expression and started seeing into Jai’s eyes as though she is speaking to him with eyes.

All three of them stared at Saveena until she got into her car. Vignudha wants to jump out of the car and hug her, but Ajay told her not to. He drove the car behind her. More like chasing behind her. After reaching some short distance, he started blowing car horn continuously.

“Ajay, What are you doing? You might scare her.”

“Exactly Vignudha, I’m just trying to do the same.”

“Why?”

“I don’t know. It came to my mind that it has to be this way.”

“But, it’s rude.”

Ajay was continuously blowing the horn going exactly behind her car. This kind of behaviour will make anyone to startle.

“No, it’s fun.”

“What if she makes a call to cops?”

“Of course, she will ring up. But if I am not wrong, it’s not to a cop.”

“I don’t understand what you are saying.”

“It’s going to be soon Vignudha, you will understand everything.”

“Jai”

“Ha”

“Where’s your mobile? ...”

He understood nothing for about a second. But soon realized what Ajay is up to and anxiously searched his pockets for mobile.

“... I think it’s ringing.”

Vignudha still hasn’t got a clue what’s going on. She found Jai’s mobile in the car gear pocket which is vibrating.

She saw the caller’s name and gasped “Saveena?”

“Give it to me”, He snatched the mobile from her hands which was again seized by her.

She attended the call and put it on the speaker.

“Hello”

Silence filled in the car.

“Hello”, Saveena spoke again.

Jai froze as though someone shot the body binding curse at him. He was trying to speak but no voice came out of his mouth.

Ajay and Vignudha were repeatedly signalling him to speak.

At last, He gathered all the courage and spoke “H... H... Hello.”

“Jai”

“Ha”

Saveena slowed down and stopped the car to a side.

Ajay too did the same.

To everyone’s amazement, she started crying and ran towards them.

Jai stepped out of the car.

On seeing jai, her face filled with happiness.

He too ran towards her. Finally she hugged him as if she loosens the grip, he will disappear.

Still crying with happiness, she said “Idiot, why it took this long time for you?”

He hasn’t answered her.

After a few minutes, when she felt some relief, released him and felt surprised on seeing Ajay and Vignudha, who just got out of the car.

Saveena also hugged and her first question to Vignudha, “How is ‘He’?”

Saveena tried to understand something and to divert the topic; she turned towards Ajay and said “Ajay, I know it’s you. You still haven’t changed, doing the same silly things.”

“Hmm I’m sorry. But I must say this, you too haven’t changed. It came to my mind as soon as I saw you, to check that you would still call jai instead of anyone else if I repeat the same as of now. So, you remember everything.”

“But, How did she know that it’s you and what do you mean by repeating the same?” asked Vignudha.

“In our 3^rd year, one day, Saveena came to college by car from hostel. At that time, just for laugh we followed her as how I did now. Immediately she put up a call to jai. We got surprised that she called him. He put the mobile on speaker and she was explaining that someone following her. Without finishing, she took a halt and started walking towards us. We got scared. She came to us and said to get off the car.”

“It’s really a sweet memory, Vignudha. You don’t know this because Jai requested me not to tell you. Anyhow I am so happy. You guys came back. Every day I am asking myself the same question “why it is taking so long for you?”” she looked around and asked “Anyway where is Sekhar and chandana?”

“Now we have to reach them. Are you with us?”

She gestured in a funny way to Ajay as I will slap you if you ask these kinds of stupid questions and said “Get into the car”.

When she too stepping into their car next to jai, Ajay asked, showing at her car “Saveena, your car!!”

“It’s just a car, Ajay. Let’s go.”

With smile, he started engine and changed the gear.

It looks like there has been some change in the Air. Everyone is sensing the fresh air hitting their face from the opened windows. It’s been a very long time that each of them had a hearty laugh. Joy and hope replaced the misery in their hearts. Unite is always a great thing, especially when one has concern about others.

Saveena started scolding all of them as soon as they all got into the car for taking some light years to reach her. All three of them knew how cute Saveena is. Now they are experiencing how cute her scolding’s too. She also said how her last two years had passed without any friends, without any interest about anything and especially without Jai. Even though Ajay knew most of the things that Saveena was saying, he listened to her quietly. After a few minutes, they became silent enjoying the pleasure of presence.

Saveena, who was very tired, because of tedious work in company, slept on Jai’s shoulder.

“Now only two missing among us finally to meet ‘Him’; C.S and C.S”, Vignudha spoke to herself. Ajay was driving cautiously, also thinking about the past especially about the same two persons.

Finally they reached. All four of them stood in front of the Mr. And Mrs. Sekhar’s house.
